Outsourcing is Key

Have you checked out the beautiful City Social website yet? I imagine so if you’ve come across this blog, however, if not, do so now—www.citysocialevv.com. Prior to making the official decision to move forward with City Social, I spent countless hours trying to design my own website but to no avail. I had no real training or experience in web design work but thought I could just figure it out and make it happen. Had I not made the decision to outsource, I may have eventually figured out how to put together a decent-ish site. Instead of waiting on that day to come, I decided to outsource.

By outsourcing I was able to describe what I envisioned for my site to a team of talented web designers, Alex and Maria Mourer, and they worked with me to put together my beautiful store front. Not only did I get the website out of the deal, but I was able to meet to amazing individuals who helped me with so many other things to start my business.

As an Event Coordinator, for the same reason I outsourced my website, I recommend outsourcing your event planning. Let the professionals do the work behind the scenes so you have a finished product/event that speaks for itself and creates a lasting impression.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million times after—work smarter, not harder.

What’s in a Name?

As the Owner & Creator of City Social, I feel compelled to share with everyone what’s in our name—City Social. As someone who has always loved organizing and planning anything and everything possible, one of my favorite things to plan and organize has always been events. Whether it’s an event with two or three of my best friends coming over for conversation over a glass of wine and thoughtfully prepared dinner*, a fundraiser, coffee tasting, or even a wedding, the same basic planning principles apply to create a memorable and cherished experience for everyone involved. City Social lives and breathes this mentality to create experiences through thoughtful and considerate planning in the most efficient ways possible.

Events such as weddings and business meetings are not normally paired up together. However, businesses who host out of town employees for meetings in the Tri-State area, and couples who get married, have a wedding, and have out of town guests for their wedding all require transportation, accommodations, food, drinks, etc., and they hope to enjoy their time spent at either event. The idea behind City Social is that we know the types of transportation, accommodations, venues, and menus to help out of town guests feel most at home in our city, and we know how to create and implement a plan to make it all happen.

City Social is a company that knows the value of our time spent together. I personally value and treasure the events, no matter what the size, where people are brought together to learn or to celebrate and to join in building a better community. Conversation, laughter, and fun with new friends, best friends, and loved ones while professionals take care of the details behind the scenes—that is the City Social experience.

This is our city. It’s your social. Let’s create experiences to remember.

*One of my favorite things to have for this type of event is the take-home Burrata Mozzarella from Pangea, a baguette, and a perfectly cooked filet…

New Year, New You

After a great 2016, here we are in 2017. I can't believe another year has come and gone but I am so excited for this year. Just to start in January I launched the City Social website, a City Social Launch Party to plan, and a very exciting partnership with Select Sedans to look forward to this year.

I am not a huge fan of "Resolutions" in the sense that they become these burdensome goals that loom over our heads and remind us every time we fail to abide by them. Instead, I like the idea of setting intentions for moving forward in the new year as the start of a year is a great slate in which to begin from scratch. As opposed to a resolution that holds a specific numerical or measurable goal and a deadline to reach said goal- the intentions are lifestyle changes to implement that can make you feel more well-rounded and accomplished over a period of time. For example, instead of setting a resolution to lose 15 pounds by March, set an intention to be active for at least 3o minutes a day 2-3 times per week to start. Nothing can happen over night and even lifestyle changes require a significant amount of planning (you were waiting on me to bring planning into the picture, weren't you?). Set your intentions, make a plan, and take it easy on yourself. What's the fun in anything if you aren't positive and loving the journey to get there?

Let's do this, 2017!

Cardio For Canines

In early summer of 2016, the Vanderburgh Humane Society through one of it’s most dedicated volunteers, Lauren Schmitt, created a program called “Cardio for Canines“. It’s a program designed to get all of the dogs out of their kennels for a walk and/or run to promote adoptions while simultaneously encouraging people in the community to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Cardio for Canines takes place each Saturday morning from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The doors to get your dog open at 8:00 AM but if you plan ahead, like a handful of people do each week, you can get there early to walk the dog that holds a special place in your heart (well, I guess they all do, right?!).

Through City Social I was fortunate enough to help coordinate the Very Merry Cardio for Canines event in December 2016. Every single dog available for adoption was out of its kennel, some wore holiday sweaters, and all who came had a lovely time. We had volunteers come to help sell local merchandise, a photographer to run the Cardio for Canines photo booth, and so many more selfless individuals who showed up to help run this event.

No event can happen without the help of many—City Social feels very fortunate to be surrounded in all types of events by people who help work and volunteer to make every event a success.

The next Saturday morning you have available,  Rest assured you will not regret it!
