We are so excited to finally introduce City Social Intern, Jasmine, to you. We have been so busy with planning, learning, and well, having fun, that this announcement and highlight is well overdue. In order to get to know Jasmine and how and why she became a member of the City Social Team, we had her write from her perspective to share with you. Thank you so much for stopping by and welcome, Jasmine!
My name is Jasmine McNary and I am the new intern for City Social. I have already learned so much working for Leslie and gaining so much knowledge about what a wedding/event planner is and does. I’ve wanted to be a wedding planner since I was in middle school. The thought of being a part of someone’s special day and seeing everyone so happy started my drive. The motto, “If you love your job, you won’t have to work a day in your life.” resides in me and I believe that’s how it should be.
I am currently a junior in college at Murray State University studying Public Relations with a minor in Organizational Communications. I started out changing my mind about what I wanted to do because I’ve had people telling me my whole life that being an event planner isn’t practical and reliable. But as time went on, I can’t see myself doing anything else! Over the past year, I was getting anxious about getting a start in learning the field. With this kind of career, you can only learn so much sitting in a classroom. So I went to Facebook to see what local businesses were around the Evansville area. City Social was one of the first pages to pop up! I looked through everything and saw Leslie’s contact info and messaged her and the City Social Facebook page, and to my wonderful surprise, I heard back! I couldn’t believe I was getting this opportunity and I’m still pinching myself.
I hope to learn from my internship this summer how to organize a business and keep it fun. Leslie already has shown me more questions to ask clients and what they need more than I expected. I never saw myself as a trendy or girly person; but now I’m realizing you don’t have to be any of that to be a caring and positive business woman. Just love what you do and do your best!
